District 33-A Sightmobile Screening Information
To have a successful screening, we recommend the following:
- Minimum of one Eye Doctor. Without a doctor, there can be no analysis/recommendations for referrals of the screening results.
- Five support staff to run the 2 vision screening machines, tonometer, hearing booth and non-mydriatic retinal camera.
- A driver who is familiar with the new Sightmobile and the sightmobile equipment (generator, levelers, etc.)
- Two nurses/EMTs for testing for glucose and blood pressure.
- Two people for signing in people at the door.
In addition,
- You need to advertise extensively
- Do the screening at a school or senior center or town function to increase publicity and usage.
Remember:
- Absolutely no donation canisters or raffles.
- Display information about Lions, your club, eye care pamphlets.
- No membership drives permitted.
- No smoking or drinking in the Sightmobile.
- No attaching posters or banners on the coach - inside or outside.
- There are only 2 seats (driver and one passenger) when transporting the Sightmobile.
SUPPLIES NEEDED FOR A SCREENING FOR DISTRICT 33-A SIGHTMOBILE
Since each event may screen 50 - 100 people, supplies may be exhausted quickly.
- Paper towels (preferably folded variety)
- Alcohol-free, fragrance-free wipes (Baby wipes) to clean headrests and chinrests of Vision screening machines, Tonometer, Non-mydriatic Retinal Camera and Hearing Booth headphones after each person's use
(Get Equate brand at Walmart. Refills are approximately $5.00 for 240 wipes.)
- Hand sanitizer (Purell) for nurses
